Thanks to some new dress-up outfits from the thrift store we have these fancy friends posing for a picture! Don't they look just darling? How sweet are they?
My one little cowboy… Madden will love these two new hat. I can just see my little cowboy and his excited little lady friends when they see these darling goodie I found today!! I just can't stop!!! Lol
I love the thrift store! When I want to do a themed activity I always look there first. I have two themes that I'm currently working on collecting items for. One is a hodgepodge of china dishes for a real China tea party, the other is items I can use for the Kentucky derby party.
A thrift store in my area has 30% off coupons when you make a donation. I found some of the most amazing hats that can be used for either party last night for under two dollars each! I felt just like a happy little kid to find such wonderful things!! I also found new feather boa's and new Easter bonnets that I will decorate for the event.
My local Goodwill a 75% of yellow tag items every week on Tuesdays. This is how I have been collecting an array of different teapots, dishes and serving pieces. The average cup has cost me about $.25. I have 11 girls and one boy in my daycare. The girls have been asking and asking if they could please have a "real" tea party with "real" dishes. Since I love everything fancy I told them of course! ( under my supervision of course).
My community has a local Facebook garage sale page. I often put requests in there for things that I need and many times people give them to me for free because they like to donate to daycares. This is how I've been collecting pairs of cowboy boots. I made stick horses for my kids and we will use those for our Kentucky derby theme, as well as playing horse ranch. When I am finished I will have enough for everyone to wear a pair… Even though some may be a bit big, the kids don't care. If The boots aren't "fancy"
enough I paint them and decorate them for my fancy group!
The kids love the special events and thanks to the thrift stores and Facebook I can do it for very little money.
oh Eden! My fancy, fancy little lady!! Here she has tried to cram all four seasons of fashion into one outfit! A snowman dress, a summer straw purse, fall leggings,… Can't help but giggle at her fashion style
I have been doing additional training above and beyond what is required by licensing. Because of this additional training I will qualify for grants. As I lay in bed and looking at catalogues and dreaming of what I will buy I am hit with the realization that I am running out of room! What!?? No more room to make things out of felt for my little Friends? No more reason to shop? Never!!
some great new things will be headed our way. I'll make them fit somehow… Perhaps Dave will need to move out! LOL.
No rain in sight but the "no mud mud kitchen" is open 24 hours a day…better
have boots and raincoats just in case !!

here is a picture of our firs weeks schedule. Everyone is excited to get their thinking caps back on after a fun summer vacation!
today was a full solar eclipse. Well it was only a partial in our area it was fun to watch it on the live Facebook feed. It really was beautiful. The older kids were quite interested. Then since we could not go outside because of rain we decided to paint some beautifulpictures that reminded us of the eclipse.
Emi means blessing. I can tell this one will be a blessing to us that's for sure. She is so sweet and so cute. Welcome to daycare a little Miss Emi!!
Today two of our alumni came for a visit. They brought along Coco the guinea pig. Last year I received a coupon for Petsmart for a free class pet. Knowing it was soon Alison's birthday, and knowing that she wanted a guinea pig I decided to have the Higgins family adopt our class pet. Coco is very loved. Coco was loved a little too much for her liking today at daycare however!
